Mental Health in Construction: Breaking the Silence, Building Support
Friday April 25, 2025 11:00am - 11:45am EDT
Mental health issues in the construction industry are often overlooked, even though they significantly impact worker safety and well-being. This presentation highlights findings from a survey commissioned by Clayco, which gathered insights from over 1,000 construction workers and revealed alarming rates of anxiety, depression, and substance misuse. We will discuss the stigma surrounding mental health, barriers to accessing help, and the perceived strength of silence. This interactive presentation will use MentiMeter to engage students in exploring the connection between workplace stress and mental health. We'll also identify strategies to foster an aware and supportive culture on job sites.
